Job summary

Lake Washington School District in Redmond, WA seeks an Instructional Assistant for Einstein Elementary in a Dual Language Program. Hours: 6.5 per day, 183-day calendar, 9:05am–4:10pm. Hourly rate: $27.71. Union membership eligibility SEIU No. 925. Internal transfer process follows SEIU contract.

Primary duties include assisting teaching staff, maintaining orderly classrooms, and supporting students in various settings. Spanish ability preferred for dual language work.

Qualifications

• Must be at least eighteen years old and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• Must hold an AA degree or higher OR have completed two years of study equivalent to 72 college quarter credit hours OR have passed paraPro/Paraprofessional assessments.
• Must pass criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Assists teaching staff by completing instructional tasks and maintaining an orderly classroom.
• May be assigned to classroom, lunchroom, library, before/after school programs, or office; elementary duties may include crossing guard and playground duties.
• THIS POSITION WILL BE WORKING IN THE DUAL LANGUAGE PROGRAM. ABILITY TO SPEAK SPANISH PREFERRED.

Location: Einstein Elementary (located within the Redmond Learning Community)
Hourly Rate: $27.71/an hour (SC11SEIU26-27.pdf ) Position is eligible for membership in the Service International Employees Union No. 925

This position is posted in accordance with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Collective Bargaining Agreement transfer process outlined in Section 15.9 The position will be posted internally for five (5) workdays. The internal posting will close on Thursday, July 30th, 2026.

Interested employees must submit an Internal Application. To be eligible for transfer, employees must meet the posted qualifications and have been in their current position for at least six (6) months. Qualified applicants will be contacted directly.

If no internal candidates are selected for transfer, the position will be posted for one (1) week to consider both internal and external applicants.

THIS POSITION WILL BE WORKING IN THE DUAL LANGUAGE PROGRAM. ABILITY TO SPEAK SPANISH PREFERRED.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent. Must hold an Associate degree (AA) or higher OR have completed two years of study equivalent to 72 college quarter credit hours OR have passed an Educational Testing Service ParaPro Assessment documenting a score of 455 or higher OR have passed the Pearson Paraprofessional Assessment with a score of 220 or higher. Official documentation will be required upon hire.
