Job summary

Christel House Indianapolis is seeking a full-time Instructional Assistant at DORS Central to support adult and traditional students toward earning the Indiana Core 40 high school diploma. You will assist with assignments, monitor classrooms, and help implement instructional programs under teacher supervision.

Responsibilities include tutoring, maintaining progress records, attending trainings, and collaborating with staff to create a positive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Two years of college with some training or exposure to education or equivalent network.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
• Competency in using technology.
• Bilingual candidates are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor individual and/or groups of students for a safe and positive learning environment.
• Maintain a record of interventions and progress monitoring.
• Provide re-teaching and tutoring sessions around core instruction delivered by the classroom teacher.
• Implement, under supervision, instructional programs and lesson plans.
• Attend meetings and in-service presentations for information relative to job functions.
• Other duties assigned.

Job Tasks

• Assist students with assignments that reinforce learning concepts.
• Monitor individual and/or groups of students for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
• Maintain a record of interventions and progress monitoring.
• Provide ‘re-teaching’ and tutoring sessions around core instruction that was delivered by the classroom teacher.
• Implement, under the supervision of the teacher, instructional programs and lesson plans for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts
• Attend meetings and in-service presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.
• Other duties assigned.

Requirements

• Two years of college with some training/exposure to education OR network equivalent
• Ability and willingness to work collaboratively; maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Competency in using technology
• Ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
• Bilingual preferred
• An agreement with the mission statement and goals of Christel House Schools.
