Course Description

This course focuses on how to apply information analysis to real-world problems. It introduces students to analyzing data in python, using frameworks such as pandas and matplotlib. It emphasizes that proficiency in technical methods-programming, statistics, etc., is not sufficient. To be effective in practice, information analysts need to learn about real-world challenges faced by people or organizations, align their data analysis with a person or organization's specific needs, and prioritize impacts over sophisticated techniques. The course will help students adopt and apply this mindset through a semester-long project.
