Qualifications

• Associate degree or 48 semester hours required.
• Ability to meet suitability criteria under Alabama Child Protection Act.
• Demonstrated success in relevant work experience.
• Ability to work in a highly demanding, stressful environment.
• Proficiency in oral and written communication with students, parents, and others.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates support for the school system and its goals.
• Works with individual students and small groups as assigned.
• Helps students use books, computers, and classroom materials.
• Keeps routine records related to attendance, behavior, and materials as assigned.
• Assists with routine clerical tasks including inventory, filing, typing, and equipment operation.
• Maintains discipline and encourages acceptable student behavior.
• Assists teachers on field trips and with student needs as needed.
• Supervises students in the absence of the certified educator.
• Implements behavior management plans and maintains confidentiality.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the principal or supervisor.
