Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
• Typing speed of at least 50 words per minute.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual exceptional or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
• Assist the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on individual students’ needs, interests, and abilities.
• Check notebooks, correct papers and supervise testing and makeup work as assigned by the teacher.
• Assist with large group activities such as drill work, reading aloud, and storytelling.
• Alert the regular teacher to any problem or special information about a student.
• Participate in in-service training programs and assist with supervision of exceptional students during drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.
