Steinway & Sons seeks an Institutional Sales Representative to be based out of our upcoming Washington, DC Metro showrooms in the DMV area. The role will manage institutional sales at higher education and secondary institutions in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area, including universities, colleges, private schools, K-12 public schools, and houses of worship.

You will build long-term relationships with institutions, present to educational groups, and identify opportunities such as new concert

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a music-related field or related luxury sales/arts experience.
  • 2+ years in customer service or sales with a proven track record.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, planning, problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel locally and hold a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Build and cultivate strong long-term relationships with higher education and secondary institutions
  • Make public presentations to educational individuals and groups with professional sales recommendations
  • Conduct inventory assessment to support schools in managing their piano inventory
  • Be knowledgeable of and act on potential sales opportunities that are occurring in the market (e.g. building of a new concert hall or music school, granting of new endowment from music program patron)
  • Assist and advise in fundraising efforts for institutions requiring this aid
  • Achieve personal sales goals and support Northeast team in achieving region goals
  • Attend concerts, galas, and other artist-related events to represent Steinway and build relationships

Requirements
Position Qualifications
  • Bachelors’ degree in a music-related field, or related experience in luxury sales or the arts
  • 2+ years of work experience in customer service or sales and proven track record of success
  • Strong verbal and written communication, planning, creative problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Technology experience, including MS Office, Teams, CRM systems, Slack, Zoom, and more
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines as required.
  • Ability to interact with customers, vendors, administrators, concert artists, and educators.
  • Strong, engaging executive presence and a passion for higher education ideal
  • This position requires some local travel; candidate must have valid driver’s license and access to a car.
