Job summary

The Alabama Department of Corrections is seeking a Food Service Manager to oversee centralized food service operations for multiple facilities. The role involves inspecting kitchens, coordinating with the food service vendor, monitoring sanitation, and ensuring adherence to contract requirements.

Requirements include a 4-year degree related to nutrition or food service, plus at least 2 years of supervisory experience and Serve Safe certification or the ability to obtain it during probation.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in nutrition, institutional food service or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in planning and supervising large-scale food service operations.
• Must possess current Serve Safe Certification or obtain one prior to completion of probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections to ensure sanitation and contract compliance at facilities.
• Collaborate with food service vendor to monitor standards and contract performance.
• Oversee staffing levels to maintain adequate kitchen operations.
• Review production worksheets, temperature logs, and consumption reports.
• Provide guidance to staff on food safety, standards, and procedures.
• Prepare reports for the Food Service Contract Manager and supervisor.
