Show Set Installer – Levels I, II and III
Location: Orlando, FL / Field‑Based Projects
Job Type: Full‑Time
Pay Rate: $15.50–$26.00 per hour, based on experience and skill level
Position Summary
Abacus Staffing is hiring experienced Show Set Installers to assist with the installation of themed elements, scenic components, and custom-built structures for entertainment and commercial projects.
We are seeking candidates with hands‑on construction or field‑installation experience who are comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and industrial equipment. Candidates must have experience operating at least one of the following:
- Boom lift
- Scissor lift
- Forklift
This is a physical, field-based position that may require working outdoors, at elevated heights, and in changing job‑site conditions.
Primary Responsibilities
- Install themed, scenic, architectural, and show‑set components.
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and correctly.
- Measure, cut, position, align, and secure materials and components.
- Assist with carpentry, FRP, metal, lath, and backing installations.
- Read and follow written instructions, sketches, blueprints, and construction drawings.
- Operate boom lifts, scissor lifts, forklifts, and other job‑site equipment.
- Assist with rigging, staging, loading, and moving materials.
- Inspect tools, equipment, and rigging components before use.
- Handle materials and move equipment safely.
- Assist with job‑site preparation, organization, and cleanup.
- Follow all company, project, federal, state, and local safety requirements.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members.
Installer I – $15.50–$18.50 per Hour
- Minimum of one year of construction or field‑installation experience.
- Familiarity with common carpentry hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to read a tape measure to 1/8 inch.
- Ability to follow written procedures and supervisor instructions.
- Willingness to assist with material handling, equipment movement, installation, and cleanup.
Installer II – $18.50–$23.00 per Hour
- Minimum of three years of field‑installation experience.
- Proficient with carpentry hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to read a tape measure to 1/16 inch.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, sketches, construction drawings, and specifications.
- Knowledge of basic rigging equipment and load preparation.
- Mechanically inclined and able to work independently when necessary.
Installer III – $23.00–$26.00 per Hour
- Minimum of five years of field‑installation experience.
- Advanced carpentry, FRP, metal, or themed‑construction experience.
- Advanced ability to read blueprints, layouts, architectural specifications, and design documents.
- Experience with rigging, staging, lath, backing, and component installation.
- Strong spatial awareness and understanding of construction‑site safety.
- Qualified rigger experience is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Previous construction or field‑installation experience.
- Experience operating a boom lift, scissor lift, or forklift.
- Knowledge of hand tools, power tools, equipment, and construction materials.
- Ability to accurately use a tape measure.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time‑management skills.
- Ability to take initiative, follow directions, and prioritize assignments.
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced and physically demanding environment.
- Willing and able to work at elevated heights using lifts or scaffolding.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Safety‑focused and dependable.
Required Personal Tools
Candidates must bring basic carpentry hand tools, including:
- 25-foot tape measure
- Framing square or speed square
- Hammer
- Mallet
- Pencils or markers
- Box cutter or utility knife
- Tool pouch
- Pliers
- Screwdrivers
- Chisel
- Pry bar
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance or lifting equipment.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, kneel, climb, pull, push, drag, reach overhead, and perform repetitive movements.
- Ability to work from scaffolding, boom lifts, scissor lifts, or other elevated equipment.
- Must have good balance, agility, and awareness of job‑site surroundings.
- Ability to work in outdoor environments and changing weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current boom‑lift, scissor‑lift, forklift, or aerial‑lift certification.
- Rigging experience or Qualified Rigger certification.
- Experience with themed construction, scenic installation, carpentry, FRP, or metal installation.
- OSHA or other recognized construction‑safety training.
