We are looking for a motivated, dependable, and customer-focused Installation & Service Technician to join our growing team.

Role Description

This is a full-time, field-based position headquartered in Buffalo, NY, with travel to residential and commercial customer locations throughout Western New York. Limited flexibility for administrative work from home may be available when appropriate.

The Installation & Service Technician is responsible for installing, programming, testing, maintaining, and troubleshooting fire alarm, security alarm, video surveillance, and access control systems. The ideal candidate is technically minded, takes pride in their work, communicates professionally with customers, and can work independently while contributing to a team.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, program, configure, and test fire alarm, security alarm, video surveillance, and access control systems.
• Perform scheduled maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and service calls.
• Diagnose system issues and provide effective, timely solutions.
• Complete installations and repairs in accordance with applicable codes, manufacturer specifications, and company standards.
• Communicate professionally with customers, explain system operation, and provide end-user training.
• Maintain accurate service reports, installation records, and documentation.
• Coordinate with the office team regarding scheduling, job progress, materials, and follow‑up service needs.
• Maintain company tools, equipment, and vehicles in good working condition.
• Follow established safety procedures and represent Powered Protection professionally at every job site.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service skills and a commitment to customer satisfaction.
• Mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot technical problems.
• Basic knowledge of low‑voltage wiring, electronics, networking, or related technical systems.
• Previous experience with fire alarm, security alarm, video surveillance, or access control systems is preferred.
• Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, wiring practices, and electrical safety.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams, follow installation instructions, and learn new technologies.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and accurate documentation habits.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and collaborate with coworkers.
• Ability to perform physical tasks associated with fieldwork, including lifting 50 pounds +, climbing ladders, and working in various building environments.
• Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training, vocational education, or industry certifications are a plus.
