The role installs and maintains broadband, video, VoIP and data services, configuring equipment for fiber and hybrid networks at customer premises. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma and 2 years of telecom experience, plus certifications like Network+, CCNA, A+, and Security+.
NCTC seeks an experienced Install & Repair Technician to serve our member customers in our Tennessee and Kentucky service areas. This position installs, maintains and services customer broadband services, video services, VoIP, and other data and telecommunications related products and services as required. Installs, configures and maintains equipment required to deliver advanced digital/ hybrid/fiber services to the customer premises, including but not limited to FTTH, ONT’s, battery backups, wireless/wired routers, surge protectors, and other advanced networking devices as required. Typically installs drop wires, station protectors, network interface devices, Cat 5e/6 premise wiring and performs initial wiring or rewiring for new subscriber services. Conducts remote troubleshooting/problem identification using appropriate test equipment and processes as appropriate.
Required qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent, plus two years of advanced voice and data telecommunications education or equivalent work experience. Two years’ experience in the installation and maintenance of voice, data and advanced subscriber services plus traditional telecommunication equipment also required. Must be able to stoop, kneel, crawl, perform installations, climb poles, ladders, enter tunnels, buildings, trenches, crawl spaces and manholes. Valid driver’s license required. Preferred Qualifications and Certifications: Computer Skills, previous customer service contact and sales experience, CompTIA Network+ Certification, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), CompTIA A+, CompTIA Security+, and Pole Climbing Certification.
