Job summary

Wake County Public School System seeks a dedicated Special Education Teacher to coordinate and deliver direct instructional programs for students with disabilities, develop and monitor IEPs, and collaborate with parents and staff to support student success.

The role requires knowledge of FERPA, state and federal policies, and the ability to adapt materials and strategies to diverse learner needs within a dynamic school environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university.
• Hold or be eligible for a North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in an Exceptional Children’s teaching area.
• Experience with IEPs and collaboration with families and school staff is preferred.
• Knowledge of FERPA and protecting student confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Develops IEPs for students with disabilities and updates goals as needed.
• Implements instructional strategies and progress monitoring tools for specially designed instruction.
• Assists students in completing curriculum tasks and achieving IEP goals.
• Maintains behavior management and de-escalation strategies in the classroom.
• Attends IEP meetings and collaborates with the school team and families.
