Job summary

Wake County Public School System seeks a dedicated Special Education Teacher to coordinate and implement IEPs for students with disabilities. You will monitor progress, collaborate with families and staff, and ensure compliance with FERPA and state regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college/university.
• Hold NC Professional Educator's License in an Exceptional Children's teaching area (not including licenses in Academically or Intellectually Gifted).
• Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license according to NC requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develops IEPs for students with disabilities; implements IEPs and uses diagnostic information to update IEPs as needed.
• Implements instructional strategies and progress monitoring tools to provide specially designed instruction.
• Assists students in completing curriculum tasks and IEP goals.
• Employs varied teaching methods and adapts materials to meet student needs.
• Monitors student behavior and maintains classroom discipline; teaches behavioral strategies.
