Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Education from an accredited university and valid Alabama teaching certification with appropriate subject area endorsement(s) and grade level.

Responsibilities

• Plans comprehensive, educational courses of study and correlating lesson plans addressing individual student needs.
• Teaches assigned students in ways that motivate academic success and support intellectual, emotional, and social development.
• Delivers a balanced program of instruction, activities, and class time to accommodate diverse learning styles.
• Creates lesson plans recognizing student cultural, ethnic, and social backgrounds and learning styles.
• Guides students toward curriculum goals with clear objectives and aligns with district instructional goals.
• Maintains classroom rules and behavior standards per district policies for an orderly environment.
• Collaborates with teachers to evaluate needs, develop lessons, coordinate efforts, and refer to HCS staff as needed.
• Works with staff to accommodate IEPs/504 plans and integrate teaching strategies into the district curriculum.
• Communicates with parents to discuss progress, set expectations, and plan improvements while maintaining confidentiality.
• Updates attendance and grades in the student management system; prepares progress reports as required.
• Assesses student progress using tests and evaluations; ensures compliance with state testing policies.
• Provides leadership to classroom assistants and organizes field trips and approved educational activities.
• Monitors use of computers and district equipment and ensures compliance with policies.
• Maintains documentation for reports and regulatory compliance; serves beyond instructional time as needed.
• Notifies appropriate personnel of safety, medical, or welfare concerns and contributes to a safe school environment.
