Job summary

Westonka Community Education is seeking a dedicated Music Director for the Westonka Middle School Musical. The position involves teaching the musical score, developing vocal skills, and guiding middle school students through after-school rehearsals from February through April at the Performing Arts Center (PAC).

The ideal candidate is an encouraging educator with strong organizational and collaborative skills, able to lead rehearsals and coordinate with the production team to ensure a quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Music Education or related field preferred.
• Experience directing or teaching musical theatre, vocal music, choir, or ensemble performance.
• Experience working with middle school or adolescent students strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach and prepare the musical score for a middle school cast.
• Lead students in learning vocal parts, harmonies, rhythms, and performance expectations.
• Collaborate with the Show Artistic Director and production staff to ensure a cohesive production.
• Coordinate musical staging, transitions, and entrances with the director and choreographer.
• Create a positive, inclusive rehearsal environment and monitor student progress.
