Job summary

Westbrook Board of Education is seeking a Musical Director to direct the annual high school musical, overseeing auditions, rehearsals, performances, and production coordination. Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and direct all aspects of the annual high school musical, including auditions, casting, rehearsals, and performances.
  • Collaborate with the assistant director, vocal director, music conductor, choreographer, technical director, and production staff to ensure a cohesive, high-quality production.
  • Develop and maintain a rehearsal schedule that promotes student success while minimizing conflicts with academic and extracurricular commitments.
  • Supervise and mentor student performers, fostering growth in acting, professionalism, teamwork, and stage presence.
  • Coordinate with school administration, faculty, and families regarding production logistics, expectations, and performance schedules.
  • Oversee production budgets, scripts, costumes, props, and other resources in accordance with district policies and approved funding.
  • Ensure a safe, inclusive, and respectful rehearsal and performance environment that reflects district expectations and school values.
  • Attend all required rehearsals, technical rehearsals, performances, and production meetings, and complete other duties necessary for a successful theatrical production.
