Job summary

Ashland School District 5 is seeking an Afterschool Choir Teacher for middle school students in an afterschool program. The role focuses on developing foundational choir skills and fostering a love of learning in a supportive environment.

The teacher will plan engaging lessons, prepare students for performances, and collaborate with staff and families to track progress while ensuring safety and inclusivity in the classroom.

Qualifications

• Education and/or Experience: prior experience leading or coaching student activities preferred.
• Background in Music or Music Education or related field (preferred) or equivalent professional experience.
• Ability to model vocal techniques. Prior teaching experience with elementary or middle school students strongly desired.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging afterschool group lessons for middle school choir students.
• Teach beginning and intermediate choir techniques.
• Prepare students for informal performances, showcases, or concerts as part of the program.
• Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports all learners.
• Communicate regularly with the program coordinator, school staff, and families regarding student progress and upcoming events.
• Ensure proper care, storage, and handling of instruments and classroom materials.
• Uphold school and program policies regarding student safety and behavior.
• Attend work regularly and be punctual.
• Annually pass the District's required online training by the District's assigned due-date.
