Job summary

Mount Vernon School is seeking substitute teachers for the Lower School (Kindergarten–Grade 5) to support scheduled lessons and provide meaningful instruction. Substitutes may be called for full-day or half-day and must be available between 7:30 am and 3:30 pm, with advance notice sometimes unavailable.

Applicants should have a Bachelor's degree (education or related field preferred) and a teaching certificate preferred, with classroom experience and proficiency in educational technology

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education or related field.
• Teaching certificate preferred.
• Classroom experience and proficiency with educational technology platforms preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reports to Front Office at the start of the day to pick up materials and schedule.
• Carry out a program of study per lesson plans left by the classroom teacher.
• Create a conducive learning environment and manage student engagement.
• Follow school procedures for attendance and classroom routines.
• Possibly perform duties such as lunchroom supervision as needed.
• Be aware of emergency evacuation routes and school regulations.
