Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Valid New Mexico PED Special Education Teaching License (or eligibility to obtain).
• Ability to pass employment verification and background check.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, standards-based instruction using HQIM with alignment to standards and learning progressions.
• Plan for instruction by analyzing lesson objectives, anticipated misconceptions, academic language demands, and opportunities for student discourse.
• Use HQIM as the foundation for instruction and adjust materials to support diverse learners while maintaining grade-level rigor.
• Scaffold instruction to ensure access for English Learners, students with disabilities, and those needing behavioral support without lowering expectations.
• Integrate literacy, academic language development, and critical thinking into daily instruction with standards-aligned tasks, questions, and assessments.
• Reflect on student learning and instructional outcomes to refine lesson implementation and material use.
• Understand and implement IEPs/504 plans in the classroom; support individualized transition plans as needed.
• Modify instruction per IEP/504 in the classroom.
• Establish classroom routines and norms that promote safety, belonging, and student ownership of learning.
• Build strong relationships with students rooted in respect and high expectations.
• Support students’ social-emotional development and behavior through proactive practices.
• Design and use formative and summative assessments to monitor progress toward standards.
• Adjust pacing, scaffolds, grouping, and strategies based on assessment data.
• Provide clear, timely feedback and collaborate with colleagues to calibrate expectations.
• Communicate regularly with families about learning progress and classroom expectations.
• Engage families as partners and honor home languages and cultural values.
• Participate in professional learning communities and collaborate with specialists to support student success.
