Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with endorsements or training for subject and level assigned.
• Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned.
• Knowledge of core academic subject; knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• One year student teaching or approved internship.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements, with accommodations for individual differences.
• Plan and use instructional strategies, activities, materials, and technology to meet diverse learning needs.
• Assess student learning styles and use results to plan instruction.
• Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula for IEPs.
• Work with staff to determine instructional goals and methods.
• Plan and assign work to instructional aides and volunteers.
• Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
• Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
• Be a positive role model and support the district's mission.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and student development.
• Manage student behavior per Student Code of Conduct.
• Protect students, equipment, and materials; ensure safety.
• Assist in selecting instructional books and materials.
• Compile and maintain reports and records.
• Establish professional relationships with parents, students, colleagues, and community.
• Participate in staff development and comply with regulations and policies.
• Attend faculty meetings and serve on committees as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
