Job summary

Hawaii State Department of Education is seeking Educational Assistants for the Early Learning Prekindergarten program located on school campuses and serving children prior to kindergarten. Positions require independence to provide learning experiences across developmental domains, following established guidelines and teacher guidance.

Applicants must meet CDA credential requirements or related training, or have sufficient education credits and experience as outlined in the program guidelines.

Qualifications

• Possession of a current Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential or equivalent training is required.
• Education requirements include at least 48 baccalaureate-level credits with math and English, or an associate degree, or higher.
• Experience requirements specify General and Specialized Experience by Educational Assistant level.

Responsibilities

• Create engaging learning environments and guide children in developmentally appropriate activities.
• Plan and implement learning experiences, supervise centers, and conduct group or individual activities.
• Observe and document child development and learning progress.
• Maintain health and safety, assist with daily routines and transitions.
• Prepare materials and organize learning spaces according to teacher guidance.
• Supervise students before, during, and after class activities.
