Job summary

Eaton's ES AMER ESS division seeks an Inspector Tester I (1st Shift) in the United States. The role pays $20.74 per hour, with a 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM schedule. You will perform predefined and ad hoc tests, inspections, and audits to ensure products meet engineering and customer specifications.

Responsibilities include visual and dimensional inspection, use of precision measuring tools, and creating inspection reports. This position requires attention to safety and quality policies.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of one year inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • No relocation benefit; only candidates within 50 miles of the work location considered.
  • No immigration sponsorship (no CPT/OPT/STEM OPT sponsorship) for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect incoming, in-process, and first article components visually and dimensionally for conformance to drawings and specs.
  • Use precision measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, pin gages, thread gages, surface plates, CMM) and PC-DMIS software.
  • Prepare inspection reports to accept or reject products.
  • Coordinate disposition of customer returns with Warranty Services.
  • Maintain calibration and traceability of inspection devices.
  • Pull drawings, identify defects, and notify engineers or other stakeholders.
  • Verify assembly and MOV work per specs; perform layered process audits (LPA).
  • Participate in problem solving and continuous improvement.

What You'll Do

This position conducts a variety of predefined and ad hoc investigative test, inspections and audit procedures to assure that the product and its component parts conform to engineering and customer specifications.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, quality and housekeeping practices and company policies and procedures.
  • Work under general supervision/direction, with limited instructions, and able to make decision on the most practical and efficient methods needed to complete work.
  • Inspect (incoming, in-process, and/or first article) components and/or assemblies visually and dimensionally for conformance to manufacturing drawings, quality control specifications, and supplier/customer requirements.
  • Inspection involves using precision measurement equipment such as, but not limited to, calipers, micrometers, pin gages, thread plugs, thread ring gages, thread gages, surface plates, spring tester, profilimeter, surface plate, and CMM using PC-DMIS Software.
  • Produces necessary manual or computer-generated inspection reports to accept or reject products.
  • Coordinates the disposition of customer returns, in cooperation with Warranty Services.
  • Ensure that inspection and quality measuring devices used throughout the qualification, manufacturing and assembly processes are maintained, calibrated and traceable to the appropriate standard.
  • Inspectors pull drawings, isolate the part defect and notify engineers, drafters, buyers, coordinators, supervisors, vendors, etc.
  • Verify assembly and MOV work completion to the specification and performs layered process audits (LPA) as well as audits against engineering specifications (test parameters or OMS instructions)
  • Participate in problem solving and continuous improvement efforts
Safety
  • Responsible for following all safety policies and procedures, complying with JSA's, wearing proper PPE, complying with the production attire policy, and assuring that the work cell has safe equipment and no risk is placed on their coworkers or themselves.
  • Any safety issue identified should be reported immediately to supervisor or manager.
  • General cleaning of shop areas and personal 5S/industrial housekeeping responsibility.
Qualifications
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution
  • Must have a minimum of one (1) year inspection experience in a manufacturing environment
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within 50 miles of the work location will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Skills
Position Criteria:
  • High degree of knowledge in tools and connector construction, quality requirements and quality control methods and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with other functional areas.
  • Experience in machining, assembly, or similar manufacturing processes governed by an ISO Quality System certification.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret blue prints and be proficient in geometric dimension and tolerance.
  • Ability to give close attention to detail.
  • Operate a computer with reasonable speed and high accuracy. Excel and Word.
  • Physically able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations, including exerting the force necessary to continuously lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 lbs up to 40% of the workday.
  • Have good visual acuity and wear PPE.
