Job summary

Eaton’s IS AER ITD division in Camarillo, CA seeks an Inspector III for 2nd shift (2:15pm - 10:45pm). You will inspect aerospace parts using calipers, micrometers, CMM, and other precision tools, interpreting drawings and ensuring conformance to specifications.

With 5+ years in first article inspection of complex aerospace products, you’ll document results, uphold AS9100 quality standards, and support continuous improvement in a high-performance team.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience in mechanical inspection of highly complex, close tolerance aerospace products.
  • No relocation offered; reside within 50 miles of Camarillo, CA facility.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • ITAR US person required.

Responsibilities

  • Review and approve inspection/test data and read mechanical/electrical drawings.
  • Perform in-process and incoming dimensional/visual inspections of aerospace components.
  • Generate inspection reports and maintain records per procedures.
  • Use precision tools (calipers, micrometers, CMM, etc.) and understand ASME Y14.5 tolerancing.

Job description

Eaton’s IS AER ITD division is currently seeking a Inspector III 2nd shift at our Camarillo, CA facility! Core 2nd Shift hours for this role are 2:15pm - 10:45pm. The hourly rate for this position is $23.00 - $26.00 plus $ 2.00 shift differential per hour. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. What You’ll Do

This role is responsible for performing and verifying visual, dimensional, electrical, mechanical, environmental and chemical, inspection functions relating to source, first article, receiving, in process, final and test operations using company or customer supplied drawings, equipment and/or procedures. Actively participating in collaboration with high-performance work teams in continuous improvement in the different processes that may be required, among others, follow up Eaton policies. Reports to the Quality Supervisor or designated authority. Responsible for performing in-process and/or incoming dimensional and visual inspections of hydraulic, pneumatic, electric, and mechanical component parts, assemblies, and sub-assemblies as required.

In This Role You Will
  • Reviews and approves inspection/test data
  • Able to read and interpret mechanical/electrical drawings and procedures
  • Inspects (Incoming and/or in-process) are highly complex; closed tolerance aerospace precision machined components and/or assemblies visually and dimensionally for conformance to manufacturing drawings, quality control specifications and supplier/customer requirements. Other duties and/or responsibilities may be performed as part of cross‑training or employee development plans.
  • Responsible for review and acceptance of paperwork and documentation used in the acceptance of product.
  • Responsible for producing necessary manual or computer-generated inspection reports to accept or reject products.
  • Inspection involves using precision measurement equipment such as, but not limited to, calipers, micrometers, pin gages, thread plugs, thread ring gages, thread gages, surface plates, spring tester, optical comparator, surface plate, and CMM.
  • Possesses in-depth understanding of geometrical tolerancing and dimensional measurements per ASME Y14.5.
  • Possesses minimum of 3-5 years of experience in first article inspection of highly complex, close tolerance aerospace products.
  • Performs inspection on surface plates using complex inspection layout equipment.
  • Operates Coordinate Measuring Machines during the performance of inspections (or have a strong working knowledge of CMM capability).
  • Witnesses and/or performs dimensional inspection on highly complex; closed tolerance machined components and tooling at suppliers (Source Inspection).
  • Maintenance of inspection records in accordance with company procedures
  • Generate and assist in the corrective/preventive action process
  • Understand and support the Quality Management System
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned by leadership
  • Support company quality manual and AS9100 requirements to maintain compliance.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience in mechanical inspection of highly complex, close tolerance aerospace products.
  • No relocation is offered for this position. Only candidates who reside within a 50-mile radius of the Camarillo, CA facility will be considered.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in hands on repair and maintenance skills.
  • Able to work in various settings, including plumbing, electrical and industrial building in a high precision manufacturing environment.
  • Physical strength and dexterity to lift, move and handle equipment.
  • Construction skills, carpentry, painting, plumbing, and welding.
  • Knowledge or experience inspecting various types of materials (e.g., aluminum, alloy, titanium, stainless steel, etc.).
  • Knowledge or experience inspecting aerospace products with coatings (e.g., anodizing, cadmium plating, chromium plating, nickel plating, zinc plating, passivation, etc.).
  • College or ASQ (American Society for Quality) certification a plus.
  • Experience working in FAA environment. Basic knowledge of DFAR and Nadcap requirements.
