Hours: M-Th 6:00am-3:15pm, F 6:00am-12:00pm
Starting Rate: $18.50/hr. and up based on experience
Position Summary
The PCB Inspector is responsible for inspecting printed circuit board assemblies to ensure they meet customer requirements, company quality standards, and IPC-A-610 acceptability standards. The inspector will use magnification tools, and other inspection methods to identify defects in electronic assemblies.
Previous circuit board inspection experience is preferred but not required. The company is willing to train a dependable individual who has strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Inspect printed circuit board assemblies for quality and workmanship.
- Use magnification equipment and other inspection tools to examine circuit boards and electronic components.
- Identify defects such as missing, incorrect, damaged, reversed, lifted, or misaligned components.
- Inspect solder joints for insufficient solder, excess solder, solder bridges, opens, and other workmanship defects.
- Verify circuit boards meet IPC-A-610 standards, customer requirements, drawings, work instructions, and company procedures.
- Confirm component placement, orientation, polarity, and general assembly accuracy.
- Separate and clearly identify nonconforming products.
- Accurately document inspection results and identified defects.
- Communicate quality concerns and recurring defects to Production and Quality personnel.
- Handle circuit boards and electronic components according to ESD-control requirements.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Follow all company safety, quality, and manufacturing procedures.
- Complete required training and demonstrate competency in assigned inspection tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous manufacturing, electronics, inspection, or quality experience is helpful but not required.
- Knowledge of IPC-A-610 standards is preferred, but training will be provided.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify small defects.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions, drawings, and procedures.
- Basic computer and documentation skills.
- Good communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.
- Dependable attendance and a willingness to learn are required.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Work is performed in an electronic manufacturing environment.
- Regular use of inspection equipment, magnification devices, computers, and hand tools may be required.
- The position may require extended periods of sitting, standing, and viewing small electronic components.
- Must have sufficient visual ability, with or without corrective lenses, to inspect small components and workmanship details.
- Must be able to handle printed circuit boards and small electronic components carefully.
- Must follow ESD, safety, and personal protective equipment requirements.
- May occasionally be required to lift or move materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
Training
The company will provide training in circuit board inspection, IPC-A-610 workmanship standards, inspection equipment, ESD controls, safety requirements, and company quality procedures. The employee must successfully complete required training and demonstrate the ability to perform inspections accurately before working independently.
This position requires a pre-employment background check and drug test.
