Job summary

Spectra-Tech Manufacturing in Batavia Township, OH is seeking a detail-oriented Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) Inspector to check PCB assemblies using AOI equipment. You will verify workmanship, ensure IPC-A-610 compliance, and record inspection results.

No prior AOI experience is required; training will be provided. Starting pay is $18.50 per hour with a $500 signing bonus, a $100 monthly attendance incentive, and Fridays off to support work-life balance.

Responsibilities

• Operate AOI equipment to inspect PCB assemblies.

• Identify soldering defects and workmanship concerns.
• Perform visual inspection with magnification as needed.
• Ensure compliance with IPC-A-610 and customer requirements.
• Document inspection results accurately in records.
• Communicate defects to Production and Quality teams.
• Stop and report process issues when defects are recurring.

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) Inspector to inspect printed circuit board assemblies in an electronic manufacturing environment. This position operates automated optical inspection equipment to identify workmanship defects and verify that circuit boards meet customer requirements, company quality standards, and IPC-A-610 acceptability standards.

Previous AOI or electronics manufacturing experience is helpful but not required. The company is willing to train a dependable candidate who demonstrates strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) equipment to inspect printed circuit board assemblies.
• Load and unload circuit boards safely and correctly.
• Review inspection results and determine whether identified conditions are actual defects or false calls.
• Inspect circuit boards for defects such as missing, damaged, incorrect, reversed, lifted, or misaligned components.
• Identify soldering defects, including insufficient solder, solder bridges, opens, and other workmanship concerns.
• Perform visual inspection using magnification equipment when necessary.
• Inspect products according to IPC-A-610 standards, customer requirements, work instructions, drawings, and company procedures.
• Separate and clearly identify nonconforming products.
• Document inspection results accurately in the appropriate production and quality records.
• Communicate defects and recurring quality concerns to Production and Quality personnel.
• Stop and report the process when repeated or significant defects are identified.
• Handle circuit boards and electronic components according to ESD-control requirements.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Follow all company safety, quality, and manufacturing procedures.
• Complete required training and maintain the knowledge needed to perform the position effectively.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

• Work is performed in an electronic manufacturing environment.
• Regular use of computers, AOI equipment, magnification devices, and other inspection tools is required.
• The position may require extended periods of sitting, standing, and viewing computer screens or small electronic components.
• Must have sufficient visual ability, with or without corrective lenses, to inspect small components and identify workmanship defects.
• Must be able to handle printed circuit boards and small electronic components carefully.
• Must follow ESD, safety, and personal protective equipment requirements.
• May occasionally be required to lift or move materials weighing up to 25 pounds.

Training

The company will provide training on AOI equipment operation, inspection procedures, ESD controls, applicable quality requirements, and IPC-A-610 workmanship standards. The successful candidate must be willing to complete required training and demonstrate competency before working independently.

This position requires a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
