The successful candidate will apply quality assurance and inspection procedures during and after construction to ensure structural quality, safety, and conformance to plans, specifications, and codes.

This role is focused on highway construction projects and involves verification and documentation of compliance with contract requirements and TxDOT Construction standards. Note: Not eligible for employer sponsorship except for TN visa classifications.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Review plans, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods for compliance and safety
• Verify conformance for testing materials like asphalt, concrete, soils, etc.
• Measure dimensions, verify levels, alignments, and elevations to ensure compliance
• Record field notes, prepare reports, and maintain project documentation using systems like SiteManager

Additional Responsibilities:

• Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Skills:

• Proficiency with computers
• Active driver's license and successful completion of JMT's Motor Vehicle screening

Required Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Ability to obtain necessary certifications within six months
• At least two years of construction inspection experience, including one year in bridge or roadway construction

Preferred Qualifications:

Qualifications/certifications that may be obtained within six months under supervision include TxDOT Project Experience, TxDOT Concrete Field Technician, SB101 and 102 Certifications, HMA Certifications, OSHA 30-Hour Safety, Work Zone Traffic Control, and Nuclear Radiation Safety.

Working Conditions:

Fieldwork involving bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, lifting up to 25 lbs, in various weather conditions.
