Job summary

Oerlikon is seeking a Quality Inspector in Amherst, NY with a Sun–Wed schedule (9:30 AM – 8:00 PM) to ensure part quality for incoming and outgoing shipments. You will perform inspections, maintain documentation, and participate in coating characterization using various laboratory instruments.

The role requires a high school diploma (tech trade preferred) and strong attention to detail, with proficiency in Outlook and Excel and the ability to lift up to 44 lbs.

Job description

Inspector – Amherst, NY, Sun‑Wed; 9:30 AM – 8:00 PM

The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing quality inspection on incoming and outgoing customer parts, quality checks on raw materials and supplies used in production, product testing and analysis, production materials planning, and upkeep of quality documentation.

Responsibilities

• Perform all incoming and outgoing quality inspections on customer parts to ensure specifications are met prior to shipping, including preliminary and post deposition visual inspections and maintaining documentation.
• Lift and move parts weighing 5–44 lbs.
• Vacuum package products.
• Conduct coating characterization using laboratory equipment (optical/image analysis, profilometer for thickness, Tribometer wear track testing, thermal shock, scratch adhesion on Fischer ST‑200, calo wear test, nano hardness on Fischer HM2000).

Profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Technical trade school or related work experience preferred.
• Strong work ethic, high‑energy, detailed‑oriented.
• Computer skills; proficient in Outlook and Excel.
• Ability to lift up to 44 lbs.
• Available for Sunday–Wednesday shift (9:30 AM – 8:00 PM).

Salary: $22.00 to $26.00 per hour. Additional incentives may be available. Base compensation may vary based on qualifications.
