Job summary

Motive Offshore Group is seeking an Inspection Technician for onshore/offshore work around Houston, TX. The role involves performing and supporting on-site inspection services, load testing of client assets, and equipment change-outs, ensuring safe, competent operation and clear communication with clients and internal teams.

Responsibilities include attending client briefings, FATs, inductions, and training, completing required paperwork, and maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • NDT certification (SNT or PCN Level II) is required or training can be provided.
  • Offshore certification is required.
  • Experience operating machinery in line with job tasks.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Ability to prioritise and communicate effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
  • Mechanical and hydraulic experience is preferred.
  • Good IT and reporting skills.
  • Full, valid driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections services and tasks, including Wire Rope Management, EMAG, LOLER Inspections, NDT (MPI, ECT, LPI & UT).
  • Perform client asset load testing services and asset change-outs as required.
  • Stocktake equipment on arrival and report anomalies to the client and on-site lead.
  • Commission equipment at site and conduct load test operations per client requirements.
  • Mobilise, operate, and demobilise spooling and related equipment per project needs.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues onshore and offshore; work in the workshop when needed.
  • Complete onsite paperwork, including post-installation checks and maintenance records.
  • Submit Daily Client Service Record sheets with times/descriptions for client approval.

About the role:

Location: Offshore/Houston, Texas

Hours: Variable based on set contract

As an Inspection Technician, your role will involve both onshore and offshore work patterns and you would be responsible for performing and supporting on-site inspection services, load testing of Client assets and product change-outs, that may include the commissioning and operating of equipment in a safe, competent and professional manner, ensuring effective communication is maintained between various stakeholders, including but not limited to, the Client, Third Parties and internal Motive departments.

Responsibilities:

Develop strong working relations with key stake-holders – clients, colleagues etc.

To liaise and build rapport with the Client whilst at the worksite.

To be a positive ambassador for Motive Offshore Group Ltd.

Lead by example in setting the highest possible standards in the promotion of People Values, HSEQ procedures and best practice, ensuring compliance to the Motive Offshore Group HSEQ Policy, procedures, standards and regulatory obligations.

Immediately report all accidents, incidents, near misses or environmental concerns

Adhere to and participate in company-wide sustainability policies, procedures and initiatives as they are developed to support our Net Zero objectives.

Product

To attend project briefings & de-briefings.

To attend Client inductions/HIRA’s as and when required.

To complete online Client inductions and training as and when required.

To participate in internal and external training courses where identified.

Attend Client FAT’s when requested.

Perform inspections services and tasks, including but not limited to, Wire Rope Management, EMAG, LOLER Inspections, NDT (MPI, ECT, LPI & UT)

Perform Client asset load testing services,

Support Client product removal and/or change-outs such as, crane wires, umbilical,

Stocktake equipment on arrival at worksite, communicating any anomalies and or damage to the Client, Motive Technical Lead (on site) and Operations Lead.

Commission equipment at worksite and perform load test operations as per the Client requirements, completing all necessary paperwork.

Mobilise, operate, and demobilise spooling and associated equipment in line with project requirements.

Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues both onshore and offshore.

Working in the workshop on occasion to support mob/demob of equipment.

Complete required onsite paperwork such as post installation checks& maintenance records.

Complete Daily Client Service Record (DCSR) sheets in full, with accurate times and descriptions obtaining signed approval from the client.

Hand in project paperwork and expenses to Operations Lead in a timely manner post project.

Required skills / knowledge:

Where applicable Suitable NDT certification (SNT or PCN Level II). Training can be provided in house.

Offshore certification.

Experience operating machinery in accordance with above tasks.

Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.

Ability to prioritise

Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail

Mechanical and hydraulic experience preferred, with basic knowledge of hydraulic systems and components

Good IT and reporting skills.

Full, valid driving licence.
