Job summary

Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is seeking an Inspection Tech II to improve manufacturing quality via data-driven methods. The role focuses on dimensional and visual inspections, GD&T interpretation, and AS9102 FAI execution to ensure conformance across materials and processes.

You will document findings in MES and support reporting using MS Office tools. On-site shifts are 12 hours (6:00 AM–6:00 PM) with a 4-on/4-off cycle.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational/technical education acceptable.
  • At least 1 year interpreting mechanical drawings, GD&T, and blueprints.
  • At least 1 year applying shop math in a manufacturing or inspection setting.
  • At least 1 year hands‑on with precision measuring tools.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct precise dimensional inspections using hand gauges and tools.
  • Perform visual inspections per workmanship standards.
  • Identify nonconforming materials and document in MES.
  • Apply GD&T to verify blueprint requirements.
  • Execute AS9102 FAI with accuracy.
  • Run in-process inspections and product audits.
  • Inspect incoming materials against specs.
  • Review paperwork and certifications for accuracy.
  • Support documentation with MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/SharePoint).

We are seeking an Inspection Tech II to join our team to identify statistical methods that improve manufacturing quality and to provide data for establishing quality standards through testing methods and sampling.

What You Will Do
  • Conduct precise dimensional inspections using hand gauges, including calipers, micrometers, and other measurement tools.
  • Perform visual inspections in accordance with established workmanship standards.
  • Identify and segregate nonconforming materials and accurately document them within the Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
  • Apply knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) to interpret and verify blueprint requirements.
  • Execute AS9102 First Article Inspections (FAI) with thoroughness and accuracy.
  • Perform in-process inspections and product audits to ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Inspect incoming materials for compliance with specifications and requirements.
  • Conduct outgoing product inspections by interpreting blueprints, procedures, data, and specifications to ensure quality.
  • Review and verify paperwork and certifications for accuracy and completeness.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office tools, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint, to support documentation and reporting tasks.

Shift Structure 4 on/ 4 off schedule 12-hour shifts: 6:00A – 6:00P

Qualifications You Must Have
  • High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., G.E.D.) or vocational/technical education in a related discipline.
  • At least 1 year of experience interpreting and working from detailed mechanical drawings and blueprints, including geometric tolerances, dimensions, and part features.
  • At least 1 year of practical experience applying shop math—geometry, algebra, and related calculations—in a manufacturing or inspection environment.
  • At least 1 year of hands‑on experience using precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and other standard hand‑measuring instruments.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Hands‑on experience with AS9102 First Article Inspections (FAI).
  • Proficiency in verbal and written communication, with the ability to effectively interact with employees and management at all levels.
  • Experience with Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programming and operation.
  • Basic understanding of the AS9100 Quality Management System standards.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing techniques, tools, and principles, as well as processes involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, and models.
  • General computer proficiency, including email, internet usage, and basic Microsoft Office applications.

The salary range for this role is $38,060K/yr - $71,553K/yr USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
