Job summary

Collins Aerospace is seeking a production assembler to remove burrs, set up laser marking, and assemble components on the shop floor in a fast-paced environment.

You will read blueprints and specifications, monitor tolerances, and document results while collaborating with cross-functional teams across manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or equivalent; 2 years of relevant experience acceptable.
  • Basic math skills including decimals.
  • Ability to learn and use multiple computer applications.

Responsibilities

  • Remove burrs and sharp edges using hand tools.
  • Set up and run laser marking machines and assemble components.
  • Read, interpret, and follow prints, specs and drawings.
  • Monitor part tolerances and identify non-conforming features.
  • Maintain documentation and production tracking inputs.

What You Will Do

Use a variety of hand tools to remove Burrs, or sharp edges. Perform machine setup and runs on laser marking machines Assembly of components Read, interpret and comprehend, process prints, engineering and quality standards, and other informational drawings and work instructions. Monitor part specific dimensional tolerances while performing the operation & identify non-conforming part features Maintain accurate documentation and system inputs (shop traveler, labor charging, production tracking software, inspection results, etc.) Identify and report process inefficiencies, machine issues, and improvement opportunities Follow work priorities to accomplish production goals Can handle contact with coolants, cleaning fluids, and oils (petroleum based products) and chemical vapors from products during the normal manufacturing Obtain and maintain required Inspection Certification(s) Additional responsibilities and duties as assigned

What You Will Learn

Precision deburring process to print specifications. Set-up and operation of laser markers Reading/interpreting GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) Cross-functional collaboration through various types of manufacturing and processes. Gain experience with a variety of inspection equipment.

Qualifications
  • You Must Have Typically requires HS diploma or equivalent or in the absence of a HS diploma or GED, 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Basic math skills, including adding and subtracting decimals.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn and use multiple computer applications (including email, internet, and other job-specific applications).
  • Experience with measurement equipment, i.e. gauges, calipers, etc.
  • Experience with basic hand tools.
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and following blueprints.
