Job summary

Koppers Inc. is seeking an Inside Sales/Customer Service Associate to provide administrative sales support, assist with pre-sale inquiries, and help fulfill orders.

You will process and enter customer purchase orders, coordinate with plants and logistics, and ensure on-time deliveries while maintaining Sox-compliant documentation. The role requires strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work remotely with reliable Wi-Fi; 5% travel may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 1-3 years of experience in customer service or inside sales.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to analyze, read, and write general business reports.
• Basic knowledge of financial reports.
• Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers.
• Strong team player with high attention to detail.
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office Products.
• For remote position – must have reliable Wi‑Fi.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
• Willingness to travel 5%.

Responsibilities

• Works closely with sales teams to provide administrative sales support and assist customers with pre-sale inquiries and order fulfillment.
• Process and manage customer purchase orders and enter orders at the appropriate location; attention to order entry details.
• Coordinate purchase orders with plant locations, reload yards, procurement and logistics to meet customer due dates.
• Comply with Sox standards for accurate documentation.
• Handle telephone inquiries from customers.
• Provide superior customer service by anticipating needs and offering proactive solutions.
• Provide monthly reconciliation of reload yard inventory for accuracy.
• Assist in coverage when other inside sales representatives are out of the office.
• Follow procedures established by Koppers Credit and Finance Departments.
• Occasional plant visits to assist in inventories and training.
• Support customer restoration efforts during storms/emergencies; may require nights, weekends and holidays.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Responsible for processing and managing customer purchase orders and entering orders at the appropriate location. Attention to detail is a must on order entry.
• Coordinate the purchase orders with plant locations, reload yards, procurement and logistics so that customer due dates are satisfied.
• Must comply with Sox standards for accurate documentation.
• Responsible for handling telephone inquiries from customers.
• Provide superior customer service by anticipating customer needs and provide proactive solutions.
• Provide monthly reconciliation of reload yard inventory to ensure accuracy of the inventory.
• Assist in coverage while other inside sales representatives are out of the office.
• Follow procedures established by Koppers Credit and Finance Departments
• Complete occasional visits to a plant to assist in physical inventories and training.
• Provide support of customer restoration efforts during storms/emergencies by entering orders and assisting in the restoration which will require on occasion to work nights, weekends and holidays.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
