Essential Duties
- Communicates with customer on a daily basis to ensure objectives are understood and synchronized.
- Ensures shipping schedules match, resolves potential delays, alleviates issues with purchase orders; communicates with trucking company and performs follow‑up on sales orders.
- Requests additional information on orders, blueprints, etc. as needed.
- Provides customer with information regarding past‑due items, daily shipments, quality issues, production schedule, reasons for delays, continuous improvement, schedule discrepancies, and capabilities.
- Communicates with other departments within the organization to ensure shipments are on‑schedule, expedites parts, ensures purchased materials are on hand, confirms scheduling meets requirements, and consults on quality issues.
- Provides clerical support and other assistance to Senior Inside Sales and Outside Sales Representatives.
- Processes EDI information to update customer releases for specified accounts.
- Reviews and processes new purchase orders/releases.
- Enters sales order information into the computer system, ensuring pricing, quantities, and due dates are correct.
- Utilizes the computer system to sort information and link with proper customer orders.
- Monitors account(s) to ensure correct quantities are shipped on a timely basis.
- Prepares reports on forecasted sales orders, past‑due production, component parts required, and weekly shipping goals.
- Visits customer facilities to build relationships, broaden knowledge of product usage, and research additional services to offer the customer.
- Reports to the Vice President of Sales any situation that may threaten the customer relationship.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and experience; 1‑3 years of experience preferred.
- Basic familiarity with machinery and processes involved in production and basic blueprint knowledge.
- Proficiency with Windows‑based computer systems demonstrated prior to the end of the orientation period.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
- Math skills: add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure; calculate discounts, interest, proportions, and percentages.
- Reasoning skills: solve practical problems and interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Physical Demands
Must sit regularly; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk and hear. Requires close vision and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
Moderate noise level. Limited travel may be required. Overtime is required per workload demands.
