Job summary

Valley Iron Inc. is seeking an Inside Sales Representative to maintain and grow accounts, primarily via voice, fax, and electronic communications. You will quote materials and processing services, convert quotes to orders, and coordinate will call or delivery as needed.

Ideal candidates have 3 years of industrial or retail sales experience, strong customer service, and excellent communication skills. Proficiency in Excel/Word and basic math is a plus.

Qualifications

Job Summary:

The Inside Sales Representative is responsible for maintaining, growing, and servicing new and existing accounts, primarily utilizing voice, fax, and electronic communications.

Essential Functions:

• Perform high-quality customer service, including rapid response to all inquiries of material and processing services.
• Encourage customers to purchase additional related products and services.
• Support the Outside Sales Representative in qualifying and opening new accounts in the territory.
• Provide timely quotes for all customer requests for materials and processing services.
• Convert quotes to orders upon customer request and print/dispatch orders for will call, delivery, or processing.
• Coordinate outside processing when appropriate.
• Review all quotes/orders for accuracy before sending/dispatching.
• Assist with customer service issues – errors, damage, etc.
• Solicit feedback from customers on products, services, pricing, and overall performance.
• Counter sales.
• Responsible for processing cash, check, credit card payments, and managing/counting the cash drawer before and after each shift.
• Ensure that specialty items have copies, and sales and dispatch counters are cleared/organized as well as tags are dispatched in the correct locations. Delivery, will call, processing, etc.
• Monitoring the will call bucket for accumulation of orders to be processed within the hour of customer placing their order and advising the Will Call Supervisor when help is needed to fill orders.
• Communicating with Will Call Supervisor on large or special orders that will require more time to pull to ensure they are ready when the customer arrives.
• All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

1. Minimum Education Preferred: Bachelor’s or associate degree business or related field.
2. Minimum Experience Preferred: 3 years of industrial or retail sales experience.

4. Bi-lingual Spanish preferred but not required.
5. Strong customer service skills
6. High energy, strong mathematical skills
7. Strong telephone etiquette and technique
8. Excellent oral and written communication skills
9. Attention to detail.
10. Moderate computer skills (Excel and Word)
11. Highly self-motivated
12. General knowledge of carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum products is a plus.

• May be exposed to various chemical fumes and airborne particles.
• Fast-paced environment subject to numerous schedule and priority changes and short notice activity

• Office equipment: computer, keyboard, 10-key, phone, printer/copier/scanner, PPE when necessary.
• Essential Physical Tasks:
• Standing/sitting/walking. May be required to lift heavy items at times.
