Our client is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Inside Sales Representative to drive commercial growth and manage direct customer engagements across our precision motion control portfolio. In this role, you will serve as the primary commercial point of contact for inbound customer inquiries, managing the full sales cycle for standard catalog components and coordinating the qualification process for custom electromechanical assemblies including high-performance electric motors (brushless DC, coreless, servo, pancake/gimbal) and precision rotary slip rings.
Working alongside Outside Sales Directors, Product Managers, and Applications Engineers, you will engage design engineers, procurement specialists, and system integrators operating in robotics, aerospace, defense, medical equipment, and factory automation. The ideal candidate blends commercial sales agility with a solid aptitude for understanding technical electromechanical specifications.
Key Responsibilities
1. Inbound Lead Qualification & Opportunity Pipeline
- Respond promptly to inbound technical inquiries, web leads, RFQs (Requests for Quotation), and phone calls from prospective and existing OEM customers.
- Qualify customer requirements by uncovering operating parameters, annual usage volumes (EAU), project timelines, budget constraints, and decision-making structures.
- Identify cross-selling and up-selling opportunities across complementary product lines (e.g., pairing custom slip rings with precision motor/drive assemblies).
2. Technical Quoting & Commercial Proposal Generation
- Generate rapid, accurate commercial quotations for standard catalog products and coordinate pricing corridors for modified/custom components.
- Review technical specifications, drawings, and customer statements of work (SOW) alongside Applications Engineering to verify fit and feasibility before quoting.
- Negotiate pricing, delivery terms (Incoterms), minimum order quantities (MOQs), and lead times within established gross margin guidelines.
- Proactively follow up on open quotes, sample evaluations, and engineering prototypes to accelerate conversion from evaluation to volume production orders.
- Maintain regular contact with Tier-2 and Tier-3 OEM accounts, tracking reorder cadences, production ramp-ups, and end-of-life replenishment needs.
- Support Outside Sales Directors by scheduling technical discovery calls, setting up product demonstrations, and coordinating field visits for high-potential tier-1 accounts.
4. Cross-Functional Operations & CRM Administration
- Maintain comprehensive records of customer interactions, quote histories, design wins, and deal stages within the company CRM (Salesforce / HubSpot).
- Collaborate with Production Planning, Supply Chain, and Customer Service to provide accurate delivery lead times and expedite urgent prototype requests.
- Communicate recurring customer feedback and emerging product feature requests directly to the Hardware Product Management team.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 3+ years of proven success in inside sales, technical sales support, or account management within an industrial manufacturing, hardware, or electromechanical component environment.
- Technical Aptitude: Comfort discussing technical product specifications with engineers, including dimensional constraints, voltage/current ratings, torque/speed requirements, and environmental ingress protection (IP ratings).
- Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to distill complex technical and commercial details clearly and concisely.
- Systems Proficiency: Hands-on experience working in modern CRM platforms (Salesforce, HubSpot) and ERP/order-entry software (NetSuite, SAP, or similar).
- Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Industrial Distribution, Engineering, or equivalent practical industry experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior direct sales exposure to motion control hardware, electric motors, rotary slip rings, sensors, connectors, or power transmission components.
- Experience responding to formal government/defense RFPs or aerospace contract requirements (ITAR awareness).
- Demonstrated ability to read basic engineering drawings, CAD dimension sheets, and wiring schematics.
