Job summary

Tract Capital Management seeks a Manager, Inside Plant Engineering to lead the Inside Plant discipline across data center campuses. You will own pre-construction design through commissioning, directing cabling, MDF/IDF, racks, and passive infra while ensuring safety and compliance.

You will manage a small team of specialists, coordinate with engineers and operations, and drive standards, QA/QC, and as-built records across multiple campuses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years in inside-plant / structured-cabling engineering, data center physical-layer infrastructure, or low-voltage/communications construction delivery.
• 3+ years directly managing a small technical team and leading contractors/projects.
• Experience directing multiple sub-specialties and coordinating specialists for cabling, life-safety, and RF systems.
• Strong working knowledge of low-voltage structured cabling design (fiber/copper) and high-density data-center concepts.
• Familiarity with design/documentation tools (AutoCAD/Revit, Bluebeam, Visio) and vendor management.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Directly lead and develop a small team of three specialists (Senior Inside Plant Engineer, Signal Systems Engineer, Safety Systems Specialist).
• Allocate work across the team and serve as technical escalation point when sub-specialties intersect.
• Coach and grow team members to support multiple campuses without single points of failure.
• Own the Inside Plant engineering function end-to-end from design through construction and turnover.
• Guide cabling design standards and QA/QC criteria for repeatable campus builds.
• Oversee in-building signal and life-safety deliverables ensuring code/compliance (TIA, ANSI, BICSI, NEC).
• Drive contractors to deliver on time within scope, budget, and safety standards.
• Ensure commissioning and as-built documentation and handover to operations.
