Job summary

Healogics in Council Bluffs, IA, is seeking an Inpatient Wound Care and Ostomy Nurse to evaluate patients, provide direct nursing care for wound and ostomy patients, and collaborate with attending providers on initial plans of care.

This role also supports outpatient wound center when needed, reports to the Inpatient Nurse Manager and Market Director, and participates in discharge planning and staff education.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Current RN license in state of practice.
• Current CPR (BLS) certification.
• Minimum 1 year related wound care/acute care experience.
• Wound and Ostomy Certification preferred or required by state; willingness to obtain within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to established medical/nursing practice standards and hospital policies.
• Provide patient care for wound care and ostomy patients.
• Perform and document wound/ostomy assessments, communicate findings with physician, document plan of care.
• Participate in quality improvement, educate patients/caregivers, act as patient advocate.
• Provide stoma site marking services as requested.
• Assist in nursing orientation with focus on skin assessment and prevention of pressure injuries.
• Assist staff/patients with wound/ostomy product selection and use.
• Contribute to discharge planning meetings for patients with wounds/ostomies.
• Provide nursing support to outpatient wound center when census or staffing requires.
• Monitor use of pressure redistribution surfaces per hospital criteria.
• Performs other duties as required.
