Job summary

Sentara Healthcare Inc. seeks Registered Nurses for the Innovative Inpatient Care Model in the Centralized Virtual Acute Care Department at Sentara Independence in Virginia Beach, VA.

The role is NOT Remote, with FLEXI/PRN rotating shifts. Virtual RNs support bedside care via HIPAA-compliant video, handling admissions, discharges, patient teaching, and reconciliation to improve workflow and patient experience.

Qualifications

• RN-Associate’s Degree is required.
• BSN or MSN is preferred.
• RN License (Compact/Multi-State) is required.
• BLS certification is required within 90 days of hire.
• NIHSS and ACLS are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing duties via video calls from the Virtual Care hub.
• Manage admissions and discharges and patient teaching.
• Perform medication reconciliation and care coordination.
• Collaborate with bedside staff to support patient privacy and safety.

Sentara is hiring Registered Nurses for the Innovative Inpatient Care Model in the Brand-New Centralized Virtual Acute Care Department.

This position is NOT Remote and is located at the Sentara Independence office in Virginia Beach, VA.

Shift:

FLEXI/PRN - Rotating Shifts!

Leverage the use of technology to enhance patient care in the hospital and provide support to nurses at the bedside. Virtual RNs can support the team at the bedside to alleviate the workload and provide greater satisfaction for both the patients and the nursing staff. They handle administrative tasks that take significant time but don’t require hands-on care. This improves workflow while ensuring patients are fully informed about the care they have received.

Virtual nurses are not a replacement for bedside nurses, instead they serve as an additional member of the hospital care team. Bedside nurses and virtual nurses work together to ensure that patients continue to receive the safest and highest quality of care. Patients communicate with virtual nurses via a HIPAA compliant audio-visual device in the hospital room.

Perform nursing duties via video call with this innovative care model from the Virtual Care hub call center such as admissions, discharges, patient teaching, medication reconciliation, and much more.

Education

• RN-Associate’s Degree (Required)

• BSN or MSN preferred

Certification/Licensure

• Epic experience preferred

• 5 years of recent acute care bedside nursing experience required, IMCU experience preferred

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $41.93 - $61.01 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
