Job summary

UNC Health in Durham, NC is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician to perform sterile compounding under supervision of a pharmacist and rotate through the clean room sterilization team. The role includes a 40-hour work week with day/evening/weekend shifts and enrollment in the Pharmacy Technician Incentive Program with commitment incentives.

The position supports distribution to hospitals and clinics, uses automated dispensing technology, and requires NC Board of Pharmacy registration or PharmD

Qualifications

• Registration as a pharmacy technician with the NC Board of Pharmacy is required unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
• CPHT from PTCB or ExCPT from NHA is required unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
• Completion of an academic pharmacy technician training program is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Fulfills medication and supply orders for hospitals and clinics within and/or affiliated with the health-system.
• Conducts sterile compounding of medication batches.
• Coordinates shipments to hospitals and clinics with multiple couriers and ensures temperature requirements.
• Documents pharmaceutical distribution activities using automated and paper systems and ensures data accuracy.
• Responds to and triages customer requests for pharmacy distribution or compounding services.
• Utilizes automated dispensing technology and software to fulfill medication orders.
• Receives, restocks, rotates inventory, and manages expiration dates.
• Assists with training of new employees in job-specific functions.
• Contributes to process improvement projects.
• Participates in regulatory inspections and USP documentation.
