Job summary

UNC Health Care in Durham, NC is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician to perform sterile compounding under supervision of a pharmacist. The role includes working in the clean room sterilization team with monthly expectations for cleans and a rotating schedule of days, evenings, and weekends.

The position offers a Pharmacy Technician Incentive Program providing $5,000 over two years, paid after 6 months, 1 year, and 2 years.

Qualifications

• Registration as a technician with the NC Board of Pharmacy.
• CPhT or ExCPT certification required or waived if enrolled in a PharmD program.
• Prior sterile compounding experience is preferred.
• Completion of an academic pharmacy technician training program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Fulfills medication and supply orders for distribution to hospitals and clinics within and/or affiliated with the health-system.
• Conducts sterile compounding of medication batches.
• Coordinates shipments to hospitals and clinics with multiple couriers and shipment pathways and ensures temperature compliance.
• Documents pharmaceutical distribution activities for medications and equipment using automated and paper systems.
• Responds to and triages requests from customers for assistance with pharmacy distribution or compounding services.
• Utilizes automated dispensing technology and software to fulfill medication orders.
• Receives, restocks, and rotates inventory and manages expiration dates.
• Assists with training of new employees in job-specific functions.
• Contributes to process improvement projects.
• Participates in regulatory compliance inspections of storage areas and inventories.
