Job summary

Mercy Health Lorain Hospital is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist for inpatient care. You will assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders for both children and adults.

The role involves evaluating progress, planning discharge, and coordinating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care. Licensing requirements and CCC-SLP considerations apply, with training and policy adherence emphasized.

Qualifications

• Licensed as a Speech Language Pathologist in the state of current practice.
• CCC-SLP certification preferred at hire, required within one year
• BLS Basic Life Support preferred upon hire, required within 30 days for some sites
• 2 years of experience in equivalent setting (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Reviews physician referral, patient condition, and medical history to determine therapy needs.
• Performs and documents evaluation, re-evaluation and discharge plans.
• Plans and administers speech-language pathology treatments.
• Designs rehabilitative treatment programs for verbal/written language, articulation, and swallowing disorders.
• Instructs patient and family in home treatment procedures.
• Coordinates care with treatment team and attends care conferences.
• Precepts students and directs clinical fellowship year activities.
• Attends meetings and provides in-services to staff.
