Job summary

Brown University Health's Newport Hospital seeks a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) to evaluate, diagnose and treat psychosocial problems across inpatient units, supporting patients and families to overcome barriers to care.

You will develop treatment plans, consult with medical teams, document in medical records, and participate in rounds and care coordination to improve patient outcomes and transition to community settings.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited program.
• Current RI social work license (Board of Social Work Licensure).
• LICSW eligibility required (two years or 2000 hours post-master supervision).
• Experience in health/mental health settings preferred.
• Ability to work with aging populations and diverse cultures.

Responsibilities

• Perform bio-psychosocial evaluations to guide treatment and discharge planning.
• Provide consultation on psychosocial needs to medical and support staff.
• Develop treatment plans and initiate clinical interventions.
• Document social work activity in patients' records per department standards.
• Participate in conferences and collaborative care rounds for coordination.
• Educate patients and families to improve adherence and outcomes.
• Coordinate advocacy and linkages to community resources.
• Supervise field placement and evaluate BSW/MSW students.
• Complete case stats and department reports.
• Engage in quality assurance and policy compliance.
