Job summary

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts seeks an experienced Registered Nurse II for Western Massachusetts Hospital, operated by the Department of Public Health. The role involves directing and participating in nursing care for adult and geriatric inpatients, medication administration, and maintaining care plans and records.

Full-time and part-time positions are available with rotating days and every other weekend required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the principles and practices of nursing.
• Understanding of the problems in providing nursing services to special client groups.
• Knowledge of emergency medical procedures such as CPR and tourniquets.

Responsibilities

• Performs direct hands-on nursing care following hospital policies and nursing standards.
• Assesses and records patient health status on admission.
• Develops and maintains an up-to-date plan of care.
• Documents changes in patient condition and care rendered.
• Participates in Quality Assurance activities and department committees.
• Establishes therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
• Mentors unit staff and may instruct personnel in techniques and equipment.
