Job summary

University of Mississippi Medical Center seeks an experienced RN for the Inpatient Bone Marrow Transplant Unit on Main Campus in Jackson, MS. The role involves assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care for patients, coordinating admissions and care, and counseling patients and families on treatments and conditions.

You will liaise with case managers, home health, and utilization review to ensure smooth patient services. This full-time position may require call.

Qualifications

• Valid RN license is required.
• Strong knowledge of clinical nursing care procedures.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; able to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating treatments and interventions for patients.
• Educates patients and family on condition, diet and medication/treatment side effects and adherence to schedules.
• Ensures patient safety and coordinates referrals to services within and outside unit.
• Maintains accurate patient records and coordinates admissions processes.
• Acts as a preceptor per UMMC guidelines and reports issues to supervisor.
• Serves on nursing councils or committees to improve patient care and work area.
• Demonstrates core standards of exceptional customer service.
