Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating treatments and interventions for patients.
• Educates patients and possibly family members on diagnosis, treatment plans, medications and follow-up care.
• Ensures patient safety and comfort while coordinating care.
• Coordinates referrals to other services within and outside the unit or hospital.
• Maintains accurate patient records and documentation.
• Functions as a preceptor per UMMC guidelines and mentors junior staff.
• Communicates patient issues to supervisors and participates in quality improvement efforts.
• Participates in committees or task forces to enhance patient care and the work environment.
