Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Rehabilitation Technician to support licensed therapists and assist with patient care. This role involves transporting patients, maintaining a clean, safe environment, and handling clerical tasks to support the Rehab Department.

Responsibilities include scheduling, recording charges, ordering supplies, and contributing to interdisciplinary team efforts while maintaining documentation and respecting patient cultural needs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent or in pursuit of same.
• BLS Certification within 90 days of hire.
• Physical ability to perform functional requirements as detailed.

Responsibilities

• Assists with patient care under the direction of licensed therapists.
• Transports/escorts patients between nursing pod and Rehab Department.
• Performs daily, weekly, monthly cleanup of department and clean equipment as needed.
• Monitors equipment temperatures per policy.
• Performs general clerical duties including mail processing, typing, faxing, filing and processing medical records.
• Answers phones, schedules outpatients and coordinates Rehabilitation Unit patient therapy schedule.
• Tracks, enters, and verifies daily record of charges in computer.
• Responsible for ordering supplies and maintaining inventories as directed by Department Leader.
• Maintains competency and pursues ongoing learning through in-services and conferences.
• Provides care per unit policies and patient age groups.
• Maintains documentation and respects patient cultural needs.
• Attends team meetings to facilitate coordinated care.
• Participates on interdisciplinary system teams as appropriate.
• Identifies population served: Young/middle adult and older adult; pediatrics as secondary.
