Job summary

Lexington Health in West Columbia, SC, is seeking a full-time Inpatient Rehab Services physical therapy assistant for the day shift (8:00–4:30). You will assist the licensed physical therapist to restore function after trauma or disease using therapeutic exercises and modalities.

Under SC supervision, you will document patient progress, participate in discharge planning, and contribute to a collaborative care team.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a physical therapist assistant program approved by the State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners.
• Licensed PTA in the State of South Carolina by the State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners; CPR Certification.

Responsibilities

• Works under the supervision of a physical therapist to administer direct physical therapy patient care as outlined in the treatment plan by the physical therapist.
• Demonstrates age specific competence to provide developmentally appropriate care/treatment for children, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients.
• Administers physical therapy treatments designed to relieve pain, develop or restore function and maintain maximum performance.
• Monitors ongoing progress with tests and measurements.
• Documents patient treatment data and discharge summaries as directed by CMS and state practice act.
• Instructs patients and families in home program.
• Represents department in meetings and coordinates discharge planning.
