Job summary

Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia, SC is seeking a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant to join our Inpatient Rehab Services team. The PTA will assist the physical therapist in delivering therapies designed to restore function after trauma or disease and participate in patient evaluations and home program instruction.

The role requires SC PTA licensure, CPR certification, and the ability to work with pediatric to geriatric patients under supervision.

Qualifications

• CPR certification required.
• Licensed physical therapist assistant in the State of South Carolina.
• Graduate of a PTA program approved by the State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision of a physical therapist, administers direct physical therapy patient care per the treatment plan.
• Demonstrates age-specific competence for child, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations.
• Administers therapies to relieve pain and restore function using therapeutic exercises, manual therapy and modalities.
• Monitors progress via tests and measurements (e.g., muscle testing, ROM).
• Documents treatment data and discharge summaries per CMS and state practice acts.
• Educates patients and families on home programs and discharge planning.
• Participates in department meetings and interdisciplinary care coordination.
• Supervises rehab technicians and students as appropriate.
