Job summary

Yale New Haven Health is seeking a Milieu Counselor to work under the direction of a Registered Nurse, participating in nursing interventions to support learning and adaptive coping for patients. You will collaborate with licensed staff to develop the milieu and activities that promote quality outcomes.

This role emphasizes patient- and family-centered care at the core, guided by PFCC principles and a commitment to exemplary customer service for patients, families, physicians, and staff alike.

Qualifications

• Associates degree required and Bachelor degree preferred.
• Minimum one year experience in psychology with specialized populations.
• Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team and manage crises.

Responsibilities

• Assists nursing staff in maintaining a therapeutic milieu and patient care.
• Acts as a cofacilitator in unit-based therapeutic groups under supervision.
• Under RN direction, provides individualized patient care ensuring safety and dignity.
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary team to address patient/family needs.
• Participates in interdisciplinary staff meetings and follows up on minutes.
