Job summary

The George Washington University Hospital is seeking a dedicated Physical Therapist to join our Medical-Surgical Rehabilitation Department on a full-time basis. The therapist will assess adult patients in the acute hospital setting and develop individualized plans to enhance functional recovery and discharge planning.

Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, you will guide patients and families, ensuring high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's/Master's/Doctorate degree from an accredited Physical Therapy program.
• Experience in a hospital setting preferred.
• DC License required before start of employment.
• Current BLS for Healthcare Professionals (AHA or Red Cross)

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed assessments of adult patients' neurological, musculoskeletal, sensory, cognitive, and functional needs in the acute hospital setting.
• Create and implement individualized therapy plans to support functional recovery and transition of care planning.
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, rehab staff, social workers and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.
• Provide guidance and education to patients and caregivers.
• Work 40 hours per week (five 8-hour weekday shifts) with one required weekend shift per month.
