Job summary

The George Washington University Hospital’s Medical-Surgical Rehabilitation Department is seeking a Physical Therapist to join our rehab team on a per diem basis to support the therapy needs of our hospitalized patients. GW Hospital is a 385 bed Level 1 Trauma Center, Academic Medical Center, and Comprehensive Stroke Center located in the heart of Washington, DC.

Our rehab therapists work at the top of their license to enhance patients’ functional recovery and self-actualization.

Qualifications

• PT degree from an accredited program (BPT/MSPT/DPT).
• 1 year of acute hospital experience required.
• DC license required before start of employment; BLS certified.

Responsibilities

• Assess adult patients’ neurological, musculoskeletal, sensory, cognitive, and functional needs in the acute hospital.
• Create and implement individualized therapy plans supporting functional recovery and care transitions.
• Coordinate with nurses, physicians, rehab staff, social workers and other professionals for comprehensive care.
• Provide guidance and education to patients and caregivers.
• Per diem role with two weekend shifts per month; additional weekdays may be available.
