Job summary

UPMC Magee - Women's Hospital is seeking a Full Time Pharmacy Technician to support the Inpatient Pharmacy. The role involves sterile and nonsterile medication preparation, filling and distribution within the hospital system, with rotating day/evening shifts and occasional weekend requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of an accredited technician program, and PA licensure. Sign-on bonus and competitive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or higher.
• Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program preferred.
• Six months of pharmacy technician experience preferred.
• Six months experience as a Pharmacy Assistant within the UPMC Health System preferred.
• Enrollment in a college program and in good standing may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Fill medications with correct labeling, counting and stocking; initial and date products as required.
• Prepare oral and injectable medications (including IV admixtures and TPN) for the correct patient and time.
• Work in the Sterile Product area handling cytotoxic and hazardous drugs using aseptic technique.
• Distribute medications including cassettes and carts; handle controlled substances per policy and law.
• Maintain documentation and ensure safe storage of medications per regulations.
• Assist in training pharmacy personnel and students.
• Maintain inventory levels and keep records up to date.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program

Six months of pharmacy technician experience

Six months experience as a Pharmacy Assistant within the UPMC Health System

Enrollment in a college program and in good standing
